Treatment for the diabetes will targets to keep the blood glucose levels in normal condition as possible & controls the symptoms to prevent the health related problems developing later in the life. Some of the people who are suffering with type 2 diabetes will also achieve their target blood sugar levels only with the diet and exercise alone, but so of the people will need diabetes medications, insulin therapy or even surgery.

  • Oral medications are generally the first type of the medicine to the people with type 2 diabetes, this will be tried when patients already tried when the diet & exercise alone are not enough to keep their blood sugar levels in a healthy range.
  • Insulin injections will lower the blood glucose. Only in some people with the type 2 diabetes will need insulin. It can be advised if the blood glucose level is not at all controlled well by the tablets. The dose & the type of the insulin used differ from person to person.
  • Surgery will be done for the type 2 diabetic patients, to exclude the extra pounds & that will also helps to control blood sugar. Doctors generally recommend the weight loss surgery, for men who were 100 pounds or more and for women with 80 extra pounds or more, who are suffering with the diabetes.

Bariatric surgery: If a person who has type 2 diabetes & the body mass index (BMI) was greater than 35, then the weight-loss surgery called as bariatric surgery is a best choice.
